TOMB OF FATMA HATUN

It is located on a hill in the Künbedaltı neighbourhood downtown Kırşehir. The monument has an octagonal body rising on a cubic socle with chamfered corners and it is surmounted with a dome inside and a pyramidal roof outside.

The single-storey structure is accessed via a doorway on the north façade. Two flights of stairs lead up to the doorway with a low arch and marble jambs. It is placed within a rectangular frame and the inscription plaque is over the arch. The interior space is octagonal, crowned with a dome and illuminated with three rectangular windows.

The structure was built with stones and bricks. The exterior including the roof is faced with dressed stones. Inside, the walls are faced with dressed stones while the dome is of brick. A band of zigzags goes around the foot of the roof outside. After repairs, the monument is in good condition. According to the inscription, it was built in 1287/88.
