Wooden Door Wing Fragments

Turkiye13th Century

Özellikler

The museum inventory book records these fragments as coming from the Beyhekim Masjid and belonging to window shutters of the masjid. However, a close examination of the tenons, nail marks and grooves along the edges indicates that these actually belonged to the doorpost, capitals and registers of large size door wings. Therefore, they match neither the windows nor the door wings of the concerned masjid; they must belong to another monument.
Some pieces feature an elegant border of rumis and floral compositions of palmettes and rumis. The interlinked rumis have multi-lobed leaves.
